Production Supervisor/Planner

Position Summary
Supervises production team and schedule to ensure/optimize personnel, safety, environmental compliance, process efficiency, product quality, and cost effectiveness.
Job Responsibilities
Models Cabot values of integrity, respect, excellence, and responsibility. Influences site toward generative team atmosphere. Interacts professionally with site personnel, visitors, contractors, and individuals at all levels of the Cabot organization.
Leads team to maintain and increase safety, efficiency, and operating skills while promoting a cooperative attitude with subordinates. May periodically rotate to off-shift hours to support plant operations. Ensures compliance with procedures.
Promotes and prioritizes safety, health, and environmental excellence. Demonstrates and advocates for personal and team accountability. Actively participates in safe work permitting, hazard reviews, process safety management, and assessments.
Recognizes the importance of process consistency, and continually works to improve it by initiating efforts to remove system (common) causes and special cause variation, using tools such as SPC and cause map analysis. Reduces equipment downtime and operational delays. Develops and implements corrective actions.
Creates, maintains, and implements the production plan to assure on time delivery and highest quality standards. Design the production schedule to gain maximum utilization of manpower, equipment, and material on all shifts.
Trains, provides clear instructions, and ensures employee understanding of production processes. Provides employees with an understanding of work group and divisional plans, needs, and priorities.
Organizes tasks and activities for effective accomplishment of responsibilities and objectives. Utilizes the appropriate resources to accomplish plans, and follows through.
Continually monitors and improves manufacturing costs with respect to overall performance. Interfaces with Operations Manager and Maintenance Manager to identify and evaluate cost savings ideas.
Completes all required reports, records, and measurements, i.e. SH&E incident reporting, production records, payroll authorization, etc.
Effectively practices Performance Based Management by coaching and developing employees, providing routine and timely feedback.
Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care? and ISO Management Systems in line with the requirements of the RC14001? and ISO9001 technical specifications, as applicable to the site/region.
Requirements
University/Technical degree in Engineering is required. Chemical Engineering preferred. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Team leadership abilities and a desire to grow a generative team culture
Knowledge in plant safety topics such as confined space entry, lockout / tagout, hot work, safe work permitting, emergency response, and hazard awareness
Environmental and health awareness
Understanding of product uniformity/variation, customer needs, continuous improvement, and quality management systems
Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, troubleshooting, process control, and process improvements
Knowledge of accident and near miss reporting, incident investigation, and accountability to standards
Ability in production capacity monitoring and planning

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
