WPS/Railcar Operator

Position Summary
The WPS/Railcar Operator is responsible for a variety of activities that can include but not limited to ensuring proper loading, sampling; and moving railcars, bulk trucks, and ancillary equipment to ensure personnel safety & environmental compliance, process efficiency, product quality and cost effectiveness. Inspects, monitors, and performs minor maintenance on equipment.
Cabot's Carrollton, KY new chemical manufacturing facility is under construction. Cabot anticipates hiring WPS/Railcar Operators in 2019.
Job Responsibilities

Interacts professionally with site personnel, visitors, contractors, and individuals at all levels of the Cabot organization. Follows work instructions, procedures, and policies.
Coordinate movement of Railcars and bulk trailers into and out of the plant to meet production schedule and customer shipment dates.
Prepares, fills, samples, and seals railcars and bulk trucks with finished product; checks and prepares documentation.
Moves railcars with switch engine (trackmobile).
Maintain and continuously improve upon knowledge of all processes and equipment within their respective area(s).
Performs general and predictive/preventive maintenance on process and support equipment. Uses computerized business management system to enter work orders and document work performed.
Works in a safe manner. Actively participates in Cabot's safety, health, and environmental programs. Attends scheduled team meetings and completes safety training requirements. Keeps work area safe and clean.
Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care? and ISO Management Systems in line with the requirements of the RC14001? and ISO9001 technical specifications.
Completes all required reports, records, and measurements, i.e. SH&E incident reporting, production records, lab testing results, etc.
Works a rotating shift schedule and overtime when required, responds to call-outs. Able to work different shift schedules.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred industrial or chemical manufacturing experience.
Willing and able to work collaboratively in a team-based environment. Strong written and verbal communication and active listening skills. Able to work independently as well. Self-motivated with a track record of dependability including work history.
A proven positive safety, health, and environmental record. Familiar with topics such as personal protective equipment, confined space entry, lockout / tagout, hot work, safe work permitting, emergency response, and hazard awareness.
Knowledge of troubleshooting, problem solve, process control, and process improvements. Able to read and interpret complex operating instructions.
Accurate and consistent in performing tasks. General mechanical aptitude. Familiar with safe and effective use of basic hand tools.
Ability to remain calm and react effectively in critical situations. Experience with accident and near miss reporting, incident investigation, and accountability to standards
Effective time management, organizational, and record keeping skills. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (e-mail program).
Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as fork lifts, aerial work platforms, and switch engine (trackmobile).
Flexible in performing changing assignments and work schedules. May be required to work off-shift hours.
Physical requirements include but not limited to climbing stairs and ladders, standing or sitting for extended periods, outdoor work, working at heights from scaffold, ladders, and/or grating, use of hand tools, and occasional heavy lifting.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
